Why Interference Ramps Up When You Commit to a Big Goal

Why Interference Ramps Up When You Commit to a Big Goal
By Katie Joy, The Global Butterfly

Let’s be real. Have you ever set your sights on a big goal — a Soul Goal, the kind that makes your belly fizz and your heart race — and then BAM: everything starts going wrong?

You get sick.
Your laptop dies.
That friend who normally couldn’t care less suddenly needs you urgently.
Your bank throws a wobbly.
Even your cat starts acting weird.

It’s like the whole universe has conspired to test you, right?

Here’s the thing: it’s not just you. It’s not bad luck. It’s not a sign you’re “not meant” for the thing you want.

It’s interference.
And it’s patterned.

Resistance Isn’t Personal — It’s Predictable

Most people see resistance and think, “Well, maybe this isn’t aligned. Maybe I should back off.”

That’s exactly what interference wants you to think.

Here’s what I know, after years of guiding people into their Soul Goals: interference ramps up the second you commit.

Not before. Not when you’re dabbling, circling, or thinking about it.

The moment you decide, “This is it. I’m going for this goal. I’m done playing small” — that’s when it kicks off.

It’s like clockwork.

Because your energy field just shifted. You’ve cracked open a door to a higher frequency, a bigger version of you. And whenever you do that, there are forces — psychological, energetic, systemic — that scramble to keep you in the old box.

Why?
Because the “old you” was safe. Predictable. Contained.

And interference thrives on predictable.

The Pattern Looks Like This

Here’s how you know you’re in it:

  • Sudden chaos. Things that were steady start wobbling. Appliances break. People flake.

  • Self-doubt dialled up to 100. You were clear as day yesterday; today you’re spiralling.

  • Weird guilt. Out of nowhere, you feel bad for prioritising yourself, your dream, your work.

  • Distractions on steroids. Endless scrolling, meaningless “urgent” tasks, drama from people who normally don’t feature in your life.

It’s not random. It’s not “just life”. It’s a patterned response to your expansion.

The moment you claim more, the interference says: “Oh no you don’t.”

Most People Collapse Here

And here’s the heartbreaking part: most people back down.

They think, “If it was meant to be, it would feel easier.”
They take the chaos as a sign.
They retreat.

And then what happens?
Everything “goes back to normal”.

The chaos calms down. The distractions fade. Life feels steady again.

But so does the shrinking.
So does the settling.

That goal? Slips away. Again.

And the person is left thinking, “Maybe I just wasn’t cut out for it.”

No. That’s not it.

The truth is: you were right on the edge of breakthrough, and you pulled back at the exact moment you were meant to keep going.

What’s Really Happening Energetically

Think of it like this: when you raise your frequency by committing to a Soul Goal, you light up like a beacon.

Your energy says: “I’m expanding. I’m becoming. I’m creating.”

Two things happen:

  1. Your own unhealed stuff surfaces to be cleared.

  2. Interference shows up to try to derail you.

Not because you’re weak. Not because you’re broken. But because you’ve just crossed an invisible threshold.

The old patterns want to snap you back.
The new self is pulling you forward.

And you’re in the middle, feeling like a tug-of-war rope.

How I Do It Differently

Here’s where most “goal-setting” advice falls flat.

They tell you:

  • Push harder.

  • Hustle more.

  • Use willpower.

But willpower runs out. Hustle burns you out. And pushing harder without clearing interference just means you’re trying to drive with the handbrake on.

Inside Soul Goal Academy, I teach clients how to spot interference instantly and shut the gates before it bleeds them dry.

I go deep into what I call The Three Levels of Parasitism™ — psychological, energetic, and behavioural. That’s advanced work. It’s not beginner-friendly, and I don’t post it out in the public domain because it’s my intellectual property.

But here’s what I will tell you, here and now: interference is not random. It’s not personal. And you don’t have to collapse every time it shows up.

A New Way to Respond

Next time you commit to a Soul Goal and things start going sideways, try this:

  1. Pause and name it. Say: “This is interference. It means I’m expanding.”

  2. Don’t collapse. Don’t pull back, don’t ditch the goal, don’t tell yourself it’s “not meant to be.”

  3. Strengthen your field. This might look like journalling, meditation, breathwork, moving your body, or — if you’re in one of my containers — using the clearing tools I’ve given you.

  4. Take one aligned step anyway. Even if it’s small. Keep the momentum alive.

The Reframe That Changes Everything

Imagine this: every time interference showed up, instead of shrinking, you smiled and thought, “Excellent! Proof I’m on the right path.”

How would your life look different?
How many goals would you actually complete?
How much faster would you grow?

That’s the power of recognising interference for what it is: not a stop sign, but a green light.

What This Means For You

If you’re reading this and nodding, know this: you’re not alone, and you’re not broken.

Interference is part of the path.
It’s the signpost that says: “Keep going. You’re nearly there.”

The work is learning how to:

  • Protect your energy,

  • Strengthen your field, and

  • Keep moving anyway.

That’s what I do inside Soul Goal Academy. But to get there, my clients first move through The Awakened Soul Program — because you need the foundations before you can receive this level of depth.

Your Next Step

If you’re feeling this, and you’re tired of collapsing every time resistance shows up, start with the
5-Day Soul Goal Mapping event

That’s where you’ll learn how to name your Soul Goal, map the first steps, and anchor into a foundation that will carry you through the storms of interference.

Because the truth is: interference doesn’t mean you’re failing.
It means you’re right on the brink of everything you want.
