Hi, I’m Katie Joy “The Global Butterfly”

I’m ‘originally’ from Australia. But now having traveled the world almost full-time for the last 3 years, home really is ‘in the air.’

I love to share ideas, insights and inspiration on creating Lifestyle Freedom and how you too can create your own Lifestyle by Design. First and foremost by simply LIVING it! You know, walking my talk and being an example of leading life the way you want it to be!

This page here is dedicated to share with you an example of designing life on your terms. Here’s a BIG VISION, and I’m playing it out with the use of a Global Trading Game (inspired by Kyle McDonald with his “One Red Paperclip” in 2005) as I travel around the world (many times over) to achieve my goal.

What is my goal with the trading game?

My personal goal is: I want to get a position on Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic for an out of space experience.

My Contribution goal: I wish to piggy-back the trading game to help raise US$1,000,000 to donate to Virgin Unite (Richard Branson’s Charity Foundation).

I started the trade in Jan 2011 with a packet of Tim Tam’s (double coated chocolate cookies) from Australia.

The rules of the trade are:

You must offer to trade something that is “Bigger or Better” than what I currently have.

Ideally, the ‘item’ traded needs to be ‘light weight’ – this needs some thought outside the box. I’m travelling all over the world. So I need the freedom to move and trade. Consider: programs, a promise note, an appointment (eg. spend a day with a Movie Star), virtual goods, a certificate of value (eg. flight in a private jet!) <— think I’m raising the bar for what is possible? Here’s some more specifications for when I trade with you:

I will come and meet you.
Get a photo with you for the blog.
Promote your own URL (if you have one)
Do a quick 2-minute video with you for the trade.
Create a second video interview with you for the back-end documentary.

p.s. I have the right to bend, flex and create new rules along the way.

For example. In the beginning, one of the offers to trade was my Tim Tam’s for a drug cocktail of Valium and Viagra! That’s a “No deal”. No drugs or alcohol! Though, it did cause me to giggle with the suggestion. I mean, think about it!

As for the $1,000,000 to raise from the global community, I will be putting that into action in the coming weeks with some strategies I masterminded with Sir Richard Branson and the Maverick Mastermind Group when I recently spent a week on Necker Island (February 2011).
